Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, designer Ellis Dixon effectively mixes her Southern roots with edgy New York style. Armed with a degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she studied Fashion Design with a concentration in Sportswear, her self titled women's wear label is currently celebrating its second anniversary. Ellis also earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design with a concentration in Current Scene.  

While attending FIT, Ellis began her career creating handmade garments which she sold to specialty stores and boutiques in both Brooklyn and Memphis. Two months out of college, Ellis was given the opportunity to work for Capacity International, Inc., where she designed for Aix en Provence (AIX) for one year before devoting her full attention to the Ellis Dixon line.  

Ellis is greatly influenced by cultural icons, especially Audrey Hepburn. "Her presence and her flair for fashion are something to be desired." She also looks immediately to the 1950's for interesting silhouettes and trims which inspire her creativity, and is reflected in the bulk of the Ellis Dixon spring '06 collection.

In addition to designing her next collection, Ellis is currently designing her New York showroom which will open just before fall.  

At only 23 years-old, Ellis is a powerful creative force with a clear vision for her fashion future. "I would like the Ellis Dixon brand to be recognized for its uniqueness and ability to reflect the various moods of my customer. Clothing should represent how you feel on any particular day. It's my goal to immediately put my customer in a great mood the minute she opens her closet. Ellis intends to expand the line and create handbags, shoes and other accessories."
